I remember those weekends at Walls: a bunch of us would go down and spend the day jumping off, timing our leaps with the waves bumbye we hit the sandy bottom below—or worse—one of those fat rocks! Hey, it happens to everyone. The sun would set, we’d wash off and change, and us plus half the other locals cruising on the beach—would head across the street to the movies right after: wet hair, sandy backpacks, salty smell and all.
We packed light: one pair of slippahs or slip-ons good for the beach and the movies, a pair pants, and a light hoodie—especially for those days that only locals could still consider beach days (i.e. overcast skies, chilly kona wind, and more better waves).
Beach to boardwalk in ten minutes flat. Right on.
